What does a Support Worker do?
The role of a Support Worker is to ensure the people we work with are safe, happy and lead fulfilling lives. We are looking for Support Workers to Support people with a learning disability to live independently in their own homes.
Supporting someone with a learning disability isn’t just personal care; it’s so much more. A Support Worker will support with day-to-day living, such as assisting with the weekly shop, cooking healthy meals and money management. You could be driving the person supported to a medical appointment or supporting with journey planning.
What experience do I need?
You don’t need to have worked in supported living before to be a good Support Worker. If you are caring, kind and want to work in a job that is genuinely rewarding, this is for you.Any experience with autism would be desirable.
You’ll need to be comfortable making decisions, working alone, and be confident to communicate effectively with both colleagues and external agencies. A basic level of English and Math is also required.
