Interim Support Worker Lead – Autism Specialist (Drivers only)
(36hrs per week, worked over 3 days).
You must be able to work on a shift rota basis, during the week and some weekends.
We are looking for a Support Worker lead, with strong leaderships skills and experience of supporting individuals with learning disabilities and autism. A full clean UK driving license is essential, as part of the role includes driving the home vehicle.
You will be the lead person supporting the staff team whilst on shift and provide individual and person centred support to adults with learning disabilities and autism. You will support the home manager with rotas, create and develop person centred plans and individual learning plans, to enable and empower the people we support to live an ordinary life as active citizens in the community, by maximising independence and promoting their choices and decisions as much as possible. There are aspects of the role that include assisting with personal care needs and accessing the community. At all times you will be expected to be a positive role model in your every action and behaviour.
Experience of supporting people with learning disabilities, autism or positive behaviour support is essential, along with an NVQ/QCF Level 2 in Health & Social Care or equivalent. Knowledge and understanding of different methods of communication and a willingness to learn these to meet service users needs. Knowledge and understanding of PCP and working in multi-disciplinary team/framework. Ability to work as part of a team and effectively under pressure and in crisis situations. Excellent listening and communication skills are essential. You will also need to be able to demonstrate a good standard of written, verbal and numeracy skills, as well as good basic IT skills. You must hold a full clean UK driving license to be considered.
The Tager Centre is home for 16 people on the Autistic spectrum. The building is split into four flats where 4 people live in each. Each flat has a communal area and a separate dining room with a small kitchen to enable people we support to make their own snacks. The environment is very homely and has a large activity garden that consists of raised beds, so residents can enjoy gardening and a summer house to relax in after spending time on the gym equipment. The People we support in Tager are on a 1:1 or 2:1 staffing ratio throughout their waking day and all people have a structured timetable that offers a variety of activities.
