We currently have an exciting opportunity available for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and committed Social Worker to join our stable work force in Barnsley. You will be working on a full time, fixed term basis for 12 months – potential extension of the contract beyond 12 months will be subject to funding. You will be working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday including agile working and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £28,672 – £42,821 dependent on qualifications and experience plus a company laptop and phone.
We have an excellent Safeguarding Partnership in Barnsley that works hard to keep our children and young people safe from harm and to help them achieve great outcomes. We believe that children thrive best when they are well supported with their families and in their own communities and we aim to deliver this through strengths-based approaches and strong relationships.
We want to extend our work with young people at risk of contextual safeguarding to develop excellent practice for young people in relation to extra familial harm and new safeguarding risks emerging such as online exploitation.
The Social Worker role:

As an experienced social worker, with expertise in contextual safeguarding you will support our social work staff and children’s practitioners to develop excellent practice. You will facilitate and deliver training, working closely with the Barnsley Safeguarding Children’s Partnership. This will be a non-case holding role and you will develop the social work tools and approaches to deliver excellent practice and act as a consultant to social workers on complex cases.
You will also deliver action learning sets and reflective group case discussions with practitioners to develop and improve practice. This role will help to develop specific quality assurance activity to identify learning, development and ‘even better’ practice, developing both case level and service wide improvement plans. As required, you will chair, attend and contribute to key meetings in respect of Contextual Safeguarding & Child Exploitation.
You will also develop online resources, internally and externally, for practitioners and parents and young people. Listening to the voice of young people and their families is key to our service development and in this role, you will develop participation and engagement strategies, forums and opportunities to consult with parents, carers and young people, to inform and improve service planning and delivery. You will also engage and consult with key stakeholders and member agencies of the BSCP to support system wide learning, improvement and that strategies, policy and procedures are joined up across the children’s partnership, including the South Yorkshire region.
