We have an opportunity for Senior Design Engineers at Leonardo in Edinburgh. You will provide technical support for a number of complex Automatic Test Equipment systems. These include the development of new systems and design-improvement modifications within the Radar and Advanced Targeting business. You will be required to work within a multi-disciplined engineering team in the delivery of technical solutions for the projects.
You will be involved in a wide variety of engineering activities including, but not limited to, involvement with the design and development of solutions for test systems through their lifecycle from the requirements capture phase through to detailed design, integration testing, qualification, certification and customer acceptance. This will involve liaison with internal/external customers, other functions within the IPT and engineering sub-contractors. Support to customer technical queries will also be an important part of this role.

Essential key skills :-
Degree qualified in Electronic Engineering / related science or equivalent work experience.
Adaptable and innovative-embracing new initiatives and how to transfer them into service capabilities
Ability to analyse system level documents and derive detailed Unit requirements under own initiative.
Experience of de-bugging and testing new designs and supporting module and system related test, verification and integration project phases as required by a development type programme prior to system deliveries.
Ability to communicate effectively across different disciplines both verbally and in written form.
Ability to work on own or as part of a team to resolve technical issues.
Methodical and thorough approach to hardware design.
Must be self motivated and have an aptitude to problem solve and drive difficult issues to conclusion.
Ability to interface with suppliers of key components and assemblies
What we are looking for?
Highly desirable skills (not essential to apply):-
Experience of designing test solutions for oe or more of the following technologies would be beneficial:
Digital and/or Analogue
Previous experience of working with Radar systems.
A good engineering background and experience across the full lifecycle of large scale projects
In addition, experience of high level programming in one or more of the following development environments would be an advantage:
