Managing the contract for Scottish Water, the Amey Black and Veatch joint venture is looking to hire a Quantity Surveyor for 12 months, to join the team looking after wastewater infrastructure across Scotland, delivering a programme of works until early 2022.
As Quantity Surveyor you will be joining a 15 strong team Commercial Team and managing a portfolio of around 6 projects worth £5-10m.
You will have experience of administering NEC Contracts alongside Civil Engineering experience, or environmental/wastewater experience.
The role can be undertaken remotely, with site visits predominantly in the central belt of Scotland.
What is the purpose of this role?
Responsible for projects administration in accordance with the Contract (NEC) and all commercial aspects of the projects from SW handover through to the end of the Defects Period. Strong background in project administration inc. change, risk and subcontractor management is essential. Responsibility for the timely production of accurate expenditure forecasts, monthly projects cost and value reports, including subcontractor account management and forecast outturn cost (latest best estimates).
You will have knowledge of ECC NEC contracts, programme critical path analysis and earned value reporting.
Possible travel within Scotland, typically Central Belt.
What will this role involve?
The management of several projects inc. reporting and the provision of information for KPI reporting inc. the timely production of accurate expenditure forecasts, monthly project cost and value reports, change and risk registers, together with forecast outturn position (latest best estimates).
Proven track record in being able to manage subcontractor set up and accounts and to develop strong working relationships
Experienced in budget and cost loading of project programmes and earned value management.
The ability to communicate to the wider project team to highlight issues / risks that may impact project timescales.
Interface with aBV delivery team and supplychain in design and project issues.
Attendance and reporting at monthly project meetings
Provision of cost data in accordance with the Clients reporting requirements at key project stages (Capex 5 / Capex 6)
The completion of aBV staff assessment and development requirements
Working with senior management to find ways to improve project execution
What are we looking for?
Experience of civil engineering sector on wastewater infrastructure related projects
Experienced in the commercial management and administration of projects throughout Capex 2 – Capex 6 phases of projects
Experience in basic civil engineering estimating / quotation development from first principles
Experience in earned value analysis/reporting
Experience in risk identification and its management
A good level of IT literacy (MS Office suite of projects)
A clean driving License (no more than 3 points)
Experience in waste water infrastructure projects
Knowledge / experience in using Unifier or similar cloud based contract management systems (EW's and CE's).
