If you want to spend your days building relationships, getting to know people and enabling them to manage their homes and improve their lives – you belong at Bromford.
As a neighbourhood coach, you will work with a community of around two hundred homes — ensuring residents understand their responsibilities, arranging maintenance and offering guidance that empowers them to make the right decisions.
You will manage the paperwork associated with tenancy agreements, including rent payments and arrears, and liaise with the lettings team to fill any empty houses. So, experience in housing or financial planning will really help you hit the ground running. Ultimately, your work will help us hit some very important targets, but the most rewarding part of the job is seeing people and families manage their own homes, build brighter futures and thrive.
To be successful here, you will need to be someone who genuinely cares about people — a friendly and approachable person who prefers working together to solve problems rather than telling people what to do. You will need to be resilient, be able to work by yourself, have a keen eye for detail and be confident enough to make decisions and take action should the need arise.
After six weeks of training (both in and out of the classroom) you will be equipped with all the skills you need to go out and get to know the people in your community. Then, you will put these skills to work resolving problems and connecting people who can have a positive impact on each other’s lives. Part of the job does involve making sure that residents pay their rent, stay on top of their arrears and look after their property, but this is less about enforcement and more about promoting good budgeting and lifestyle choices as ways to improve their lives.
Although you will be working by yourself most of the time, you will rarely be alone. Between visiting residents, working with our maintenance teams and getting know the services available in the local community; you will meet a lot of people. Your manager will only ever be a phone call away too, if you have any questions or need someone to talk to. And as you will be working by yourself, you will need to be able to use a tablet/laptop, have access to a vehicle and have a full driving licence.
You will be someone who:
Ideally, has experience of working in a social housing environment
Is tenacious and resilient – who does what it takes to achieve the right outcome
Has experience of handling arrears and ASB
Is curious and does not shy away from having difficult conversations
Sees the best in people and has the capacity to coach
Has a track record of being self-motivated, flexible and able to manage their workload
Is a strong positive contributor even when the going gets tough
Has a reputation for first-rate influencing, negotiating and relationship building skills
Has a full driving licence
Brings a commitment to our DNA and will be a great ambassador for Bromford.
You will be based across two districts, Stratford and Warwick and travel to and from surrounding areas will be required. Find out more about the role by .
