Reporting to the NAS Service Manager within the Cyber Division, you will be responsible for supporting the National ANPR Service (NAS) with SQL Server DBA expertise.
You will be part of the Homeland Security and Critical Infrastructure Protection civil domain of Leonardo in the UK, with a focus on a large scale strategic integrated Security Surveillance and Control Systems programme. We are currently running major programmes to provide civil surveillance protection solutions at national scale and protecting critical infrastructure assets.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on the support of a truly unique capability where we are delivering Leonardo Capability into both the largest ANPR and largest surveillance system in the world, processing over 55 million vehicle movements per day & with a dataset of over 60 billion records.

Within the Cyber Security division the Police & Homeland Security Sector is at the forefront of supplying technology & services for both civil & defence markets, in both the UK & around the world, to enhance the capabilities of customers & is led from the Basildon Site with teams based across the UK to best address the aims & vision of the division.
Key Responsibility Areas
You will be responsible for implementation, configuration, maintenance, fault diagnosis & performance of the NAS system & the critical SQL Server systems, to ensure the availability & consistent performance of Leonardo's EOC application as required to successfully achieve the agreed performance of the National ANPR Service (NAS). This position requires solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal & communication skills.
You will be a critical part of the live service support team (Leonardo Resolver Group). The team will be responsible for monitoring the stability and performance of the NAS, diagnosing & resolving incidents, working collaboratively with our development team and with the Home Office, their third party service providers (e.g. Sungard – Platform as a Service provider) & the Law Enforcement Agency's (LEA). You will provide SQL database expertise to the team, carrying out root cause analysis, investigating log files & debugging to resolve performance incidents. You will also support the implementation of future releases of our application and proactively identify risks and drive continuous improvement. You will work closely with the Service Manager and others in the support team to meet our demanding service targets.
For this role we are looking for you to have the flexibility to work a 24/7 on call shift pattern (potentially 1in4). A usual working week would be normal office hours with flexible working. There will be business requirements at time to travel, so ability to travel is also required. You must be able to become MOD SC, Home Office SC & NPPV3 security cleared for this role.
