About the Firm

A long-established and reputable accountancy practice with a strong regional presence is seeking a Tax Manager to join its growing team. The firm provides tailored tax, audit and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients across a range of sectors, and offers a supportive working environment with genuine opportunities for progression.

The Role

This is a key position within the tax team, suitable for a qualified and experienced professional with a background in accountancy practice. The successful candidate will take responsibility for managing a varied portfolio of tax clients and will be involved in both compliance and advisory work. The firm is open to applicants with a background in corporate, personal or mixed tax, and the role can be shaped around the individual’s strengths.

Key Responsibilities

Managing and developing a portfolio of clients, acting as their primary point of contact for all tax-related matters

Preparing and reviewing self-assessment and/or corporation tax returns

Providing proactive tax planning and advisory services in areas such as remuneration planning, R&D claims, inheritance tax, and business structuring

Supporting and mentoring junior members of the tax team, including reviewing their work

Liaising with HMRC and other relevant bodies on behalf of clients

Assisting senior management with complex queries and high-value advisory projects

Ensuring all compliance work is delivered accurately and within statutory deadlines

Identifying opportunities to add value for clients and grow the firm’s tax service offering

Candidate Requirements

CTA qualified (or ACA/ACCA with strong tax experience)

Proven experience in a tax role within accountancy practice

Strong technical knowledge of UK tax legislation and reporting requirements

Excellent communication and client relationship management skills

Proactive and commercially aware, with a hands-on and solutions-focused approach

Experience using tax software such as CCH, IRIS or similar
